New images from The Umbrella Academy season 4 have surfaced, and one of them answers a key question raised by the Netflix show’s season 3 finale. The ending of The Umbrella Academy season 3 sees the series’ timeline resetting once again, this time due to Allison and Reginald’s scheming during the third outing’s apocalypse. Although Allison gets what she wants in this new timeline — her husband and daughter back — it seems the Hargreeves siblings no longer have their powers in this version of reality.

Not much else is known about The Umbrella Academy season 4, but viewers can piece together certain elements of the final outing from the promotional images, posters, and social media previews dropping ahead of its premiere. And new Umbella Academy season 4 photos reveal that the Hargreeves’ lack of powers isn’t the only major difference in the reset timeline. They suggest that a key setting will look unfamiliar in the coming episodes, answering a question left open-ended by the season 3 finale.

Exclusive Images Reveal What Happened To The Hargreeves’ Childhood Home

Entertainment Weekly shared exclusive photos of The Umbrella Academy season 4, and one of the images offers a glimpse of the Hargreeves Mansion. The shot in question focuses primarily on Elliot Page’s Viktor, but one can easily see the state of the Hargreeves’ former home in the background. It looks disheveled and abandoned, suggesting no one has lived there in quite some time. This answers the question of what happened to the mansion after The Umbrella Academy season 3. The finale doesn’t show the place, but it makes sense that the Hargreeves would seek it out in season 4.

After all, while Allison is eager to get back to her family in The Umbrella Academy‘s new timeline, her brothers and sisters are probably feeling displaced. Returning home would be instinctual, and they might even look for an explanation about their missing powers there. There are numerous reasons why the Hargreeves Mansion could be in such poor shape. What We Think Happened To Hargreeves Mansion In Umbrella Academy’s New Timeline

It’s Likely The Siblings Didn’t Grow Up There

With the Hargreeves losing their powers in The Umbrella Academy season 3 finale, it’s very possible that season 4 will reveal they had different upbringings than the ones described in previous outings. The state of the Hargreeves Mansion suggests that no one’s inhabited the place in a long time. This could mean the characters’ powers never manifested, and thus, Reginald never adopted or trained them. That would be quite a twist heading into the show’s final season, and it would complicate matters if another apocalypse reared its head.

The state of the Hargreeves Mansion suggests that no one’s inhabited the place in a long time.

It’s also possible that something or someone attacked The Umbrella Academy‘s mansion, or that it was destroyed in a disaster. It’s hard to say how such a development would connect to the final season’s plot, but anything is on the table. Given how chaotic and unpredictable The Umbrella Academy can be, there could be a more outlandish explanation for the state of Hargreeves Mansion. Only time will tell what the siblings discover there.

The Umbrella Academy season 4 premieres on Netflix on August 8.
