Now on Netflix: Titus Welliver Wasted in 9-Season Legal Drama — Bosch Star Can’t Shine Despite 91% RT Score Critics rave, but viewers are stunned that one of TV’s most compelling actors is sidelined in a show that never fully uses his talent.

When most audiences think of the TV show Suits, actors like Gabriel Macht, Patrick J. Adams, or Sarah Rafferty come to mind, but Titus Welliver’s role on the legal drama shouldn’t be overlooked. While the long-running and beloved series relied on its central ensemble to carry the story, its guest stars gave the narrative texture, and Welliver was the perfect choice for his role.

Titus Welliver is great in Bosch and Deadwood, but the actor has had a hand in many different genres of television over the years, lending his talents to some of the best series of the past decades. Though Suits only recently had a resurgence on Netflix, it’s shocking that the show didn’t give Welliver more to do while it was airing.

Titus Welliver Played Dominic Barone In 3 Episodes Of Suits

First appearing in Suits season 1, episode 4, “Inside Track,” Welliver takes on the role of Dominic Barone, the temporary CEO of McKernon Motors, whom Harvey chose to back because of his loyalty to the integrity of the company. Returning later on in the season 5 episodes, “Privilege” and “Uninvited Guests,” the series sees Barone’s relationship with the firm evolve.

Welliver is great in Bosch and its replacement shows, but it’s in these smaller cameos that the actor gets to shine. As an experienced and well-versed actor in the legal and drama genres, he was the perfect guest star for Suits, holding his own next to Macht and Adams as Harvey and Mike. If anything, Suits‘s dream team was struggling to keep up with Welliver’s magnetism onscreen.

Suits Should Have Given Titus Welliver’s Character More To Do

He Appears Only A Few Times Throughout The Seasons, But Suits Should’ve Used Him More

The three episodes that feature Welliver are fun, but few of them properly use his talents as an actor, as Welliver is capable of handling serious topics onscreen. He takes center stage in “Inside Track,” but his storylines are more secondary in season 5, as the main thrust of the plot revolves around Mike and Rachel planning their wedding and Mike’s secret coming out.

Though shows like Suits that have their own Mike and Harvey work because of the dynamic duo chemistry between them, it’s always fun when a new character enters the mix, shifting their chemistry and creating intrigue. Suits had the opportunity to do this with Barone, as McKernon was a big client for Harvey, which could’ve opened the door for Barone to become a recurring character.

Titus Welliver Would Be Up To Reprising His Suits Role

It Would Be Fun To See Him Come Back To The Role Of Barone

It’s a shame that Suits L.A. was canceled, as Welliver said he would be interested in reprising his role in the spinoff series (via Extra). However, this makes the possibility that the original Suits would come back for season 10 even more exciting. Suits L.A. wasted many of its moments with returning characters, so it might be for the best that Welliver didn’t come back.

There’s no shortage of amazing characters that fans would love to see come back if Suits got a proper revival.

There’s no shortage of amazing characters that fans would love to see come back if Suits got a proper revival. The fact that Welliver’s time on the show is still so memorable, even though it was small, speaks to his talents as an actor and proves that Suits isn’t done with the character yet, as there’s always hope for the franchise’s future.
