Netflix’s 90% RT Bosch Replacement Show Finally Returns With New Episodes Next Month Mickey Haller sits at a picnic bench talking to his team, smiling, in The Lincoln Lawyer

Fans can look forward to the new season of Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer arriving next month. The show was officially renewed for Season 4 in January 2025, following a season that earned a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 1 premiered in 2022 and quickly became one of the most-watched shows on Netflix. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s performance as defense lawyer Mickey Haller has been praised, along with the show’s clever formula and mysteries. Viewers are especially excited about the show’s return, as the Season 3 finale ended on a major cliffhanger.

The Lincoln Lawyer Is Adapted from Michael Connelly’s Best-Selling Novels

Popular mystery and crime fiction author Michael Connelly published the first book in The Lincoln Lawyer series in 2005. However, Season 1 of the series is based on the second Mickey Haller book, The Brass Verdict, published in 2008. Interestingly, the novel also features Harry Bosch, a character who stars in a series of novels by Connelly. Prime Video adapted the Bosch series for the small screen in 2014, with Titus Welliver playing the detective.

In the novels, Harry Bosch and Mickey Haller are half-brothers, sharing a father. However, this connection is not one the shows explore, as the rights are with different networks.

The other seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer are also based on Connelly’s books. Season 2 draws from the 2011 novel The Fifth Witness; Season 3 adapts the 2013 novel The Gods of Guilt; and Season 4 will follow the events of the 2020 novel The Law of Innocence.

The Netflix series is the second adaptation of The Lincoln Lawyer, but the first for TV. Matthew McConaughey played Mickey Haller in a 2011 movie, which followed the events of the first novel. While McConaughey was praised for his performance, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s portrayal of the character is quite different and more polished.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Sees Mickey Haller as the Defendant

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Trailer

As the title indicates, Mickey Haller is a man who loves his Lincoln, as it’s where he does most of his thinking. Although he gets behind the wheel, he usually prefers to be chauffeured while working on cases in the backseat. Unfortunately, during one of his solo drives, he ran into trouble in the Season 3 finale.

In the episode, Mickey Haller and his team celebrate with dinner after a major legal victory, including a big financial settlement. After dinner, Mickey drives his convertible and starts daydreaming about a much-needed vacation. But those dreams are interrupted by flashing police lights in his rearview mirror.

Mickey pulls over and explains that he’s sober and a lawyer, but the police officer doesn’t seem concerned about either. Instead, his concern is about the blood coming from his car trunk. Despite Mickey’s protests, the officer opens the trunk and finds the lawyer’s longtime client, Sam Scales, dead.

Season 4 will see the top lawyer as a defendant, working to solve the crime with his team by his side. Sam was a con artist, but a good-natured one, and certainly didn’t deserve to get caught up in the major crime conspiracy surrounding Mickey’s most recent case.

As viewers saw in Season 3 with the death of client Gloria Dayton (“Glory Days”) and his client-turned-driver Eddie Rojas, Mickey won’t stop until the guilty party has been punished. His best moments in court happen when things get personal. This is as personal as it can get.

The fourth season will feature Neve Campbell returning as a series regular. Cobie Smulders, best known for playing Robin in How I Met Your Mother and Agent Maria Hill in the MCU, has also been cast.

The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 will premiere on Netflix on February 5. The entire season, consisting of 10 episodes, will be released on that day, so fans can enjoy a good binge-watch.
