Netflix fans have just four days left to stream a ‘masterpiece’ thriller that kept viewers glued to their screens.

You may not have heard of New Life but those who tuned into the 2023 thriller were completely won over. Directed by first-time filmmaker John Rosman, the zombie film follows Jess, a mysterious woman desperate to cross the Canadian border to flee her past.

But Jess’ journey is interrupted by resourceful agent Elsa, whose sole mission is to stop her from escaping. Hidden truths about the two women come to light as the heated pursuit unfolds.

A synopsis teases: “A mysterious woman on the run, and the resourceful fixer assigned to bring her in. Their two unique stories inextricably link, as the stakes of the pursuit rise to apocalyptic proportions.”

General Hospital actress Hayley Erin leads the cast as Jess, alongside Lost icon Sonya Walger as Elsa.

Although it flew under the radar even for many horror fans, New Life was a huge hit with critics. Rotten Tomatoes reviewers awarded it an impressive 94% score, with audiences giving it a 74% rating.

One glowing review states: “I enjoyed everything about this movie from the story, acting, integration of technology, moral and ethical questions, the way characters dealt with major challenges in their life, the cinematography and the soundtrack. I will definitely watch it again to see what I missed.”

Another moviegoer agreed: “This is an absolute masterpiece! The storytelling, acting, and cinematography are all flawless. A must-watch for any film lover!”

While IMDb users were equally wowed by the Rosman debut. “I could not look away; it hit me in all the right ways, from suspense to excitement to emotion,” said one.

“Honestly feels like the kind of movie English students could be studying in a few years time. There’s a lot here for a variety of movie-buffs, so I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a blind watch. Even if it doesn’t tickle you the same way, you’re still likely to find something that resonates.”

Yet another viewer praised: “This movie is incredible. I first thought it was a thriller, then it took me by surprise again and again with another twist and another one. It is 10/10 bc it finally was a movie that genuinely kept my eyes glued to the screen.”

Meanwhile, someone else compared it to beloved horror drama The Last of Us. They wrote: “The major plot twist here is rather reminiscent of TV’s The Last of Us.”

We won’t spoil how the film ends but Netflix subscribers should act fast and stream the thriller before it’s gone.
