Head back to ‘Virgin River’ for Season 7. See release date, time.
Cozy up. It’s time to head back to “Virgin River.”
One of Netflix’s longest-running English language series returns for Season 7, taking viewers to the charming small town in northern California where time slows down and community takes precedence.
The new season will begin right from where Season 6 ended, with the wedding of restaurateur Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) and nurse practitioner Melinda Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), which had been a long time coming, as the couple had been engaged since Season 4.
Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith had earlier told Deadline there would be no time jump between Seasons 6 and 7 and new season would pick up “like two hours later,” with Mel and Jack navigating life as newlyweds.
Smith told Netflix Tudum that Season 7 will “explore the honeymoon phase for them as theyâre building their lives on the farm, which can come with its own obstacles.”
As for other Virgin River residents, “Preacher (Colin Lawrence) hopes to pursue his chef dreams, Kaia (Kandyse McClure) tries to decide whether small-town life is right for her, Doc (Tim Matheson) faces a legal issue at his clinic, Hope (Annette OâToole) explores her past, and Denny (Kai Bradbury) and Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) await the arrival of their first child,” according to the season’s synopsis.

Will ‘Virgin River’ return for Season 8?
Netflix, in July 2025, had announced “Virgin River” would return for another season with 10 episodes.
Smith had previously told Deadline he has no “plans to wrap up the series anytime soon.”
“As long as people keep coming back for it, weâre proud and happy to keep telling these stories,” Smith had said.

‘Virgin River’ spinoff
Not only has “Virgin River” been renewed for another season, but the series is also getting a prequel spinoff, according to Variety. The spinoff will focus on the romance between Mel’s parents Sarah Jensen (Jessica Rothe) and Everett Reed (Callum Kerr) and the origins of Virgin River in the 1970s, Smith told the media outlet.
Smith told Deadline the spinoff is still in development and that he “personally sees it a little bit like ‘Queen Charlotte’ to ‘Bridgerton’.”
Jack’s sister Brie (Zibby Allen), who is facing romantic dilemmas of her own, meanwhile, will team up with love interest and local detective Mike (Marco Grazzini) to track down how resident hairstylist Charmaine is connected the death of her baby’s father, Calvin.
