Netflix has officially unveiled the premiere date and first look for its upcoming limited series, Vladimir. Based on the acclaimed novel by Julia May Jonas, the series brings together a star-studded cast led by Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz and The White Lotus breakout star Leo Woodall.

The limited series consists of eight episodes, each approximately 30 minutes long. Production took place in Toronto, Canada, with cameras rolling from July 2, 2025, through September 18, 2025. The series is produced by 20th Television.

Kate Robin serves as showrunner and executive producer. Directing duties were shared among Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, who helmed Episodes 101 and 102; Francesca Gregorini, who directed Episodes 103, 106, and 107; and Josephine Bornebusch, who directed Episodes 104 and 105.

Executive producers include creator Julia May Jonas, Rachel Weisz, Kate Robin, Sharon Horgan, Stacy Greenberg, and Kira Carstensen for Merman, Jason Winer and Jon Radler for Small Dog Picture Company, and directors Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini.

When will ‘Vladimir’ be released on Netflix?

The new limited series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on March 5, 2026. It arrives during a busy month for new Netflix series, with One Piece returning for season 2, the debut of Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, and Virgin River season 7.

What is the plot of ‘Vladimir’?

Described as a “heightened fairy tale” by star and Executive Producer Rachel Weisz, Vladimir is a dark comedy and psychological thriller that explores the boundaries of power and obsession.

The official “Next on Netflix” synopsis describes the series as follows:

“When a passionate but reckless professor’s world begins to unravel, she finds herself dangerously fixated on her magnetic new colleague. Seduction and obsession collide in Vladimir—a provocative limited series brimming with forbidden desires, razor-sharp wit, and charismatic, unpredictable characters. As boundaries blur and secrets simmer, she’ll risk everything to bring her most scandalous fantasies to life. Based on the acclaimed novel by Julia May Jonas.”

Creator Julia May Jonas, who also wrote the novel the series is based on, notes that the show explores “what women feel like they’re allowed to desire, and how they’re allowed to desire.”
