The post marked the release of The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
YouTube star MrBeast’s sidekick Chris Tyson has joined the latest social media trend sharing ‘then and now’ pictures of himself, months after starting hormone replacement therapy.
In a Twitter post on Monday, Tyson, 26, shared a picture of himself in 2016 when The Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild videogame was released beside a recent picture of themselves following the latest release of the franchise’s Tears Of The Kingdom game last Friday.
‘Me when Breath of the Wild came out VS. me when Tears of the Kingdom came out,’ the YouTube star wrote on Twitter.
The two images each showed Tyson dressed in a black t-shirt six years apart. The MrBeast sidekick – who appears on the YouTube channel with 153 million subscribers – has undergone hormone treatment in recent months and says they now use any pronouns.
The post marked the much anticipated release of The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom on Nintendo last week, the successor to Breath Of The Wild which has sold some 30 million copies worldwide.
The YouTube star has around 300,000 followers on Twitter and has made regular updates to his fans since initially opening up about his transformation.
Tyson was participating in the lasted ‘then vs now’ Legend Of Zelda trend and shared the pictures by retweeting another account also documenting their change. The retweet was the latest in a chain of tweets from users showing their changes.
Users replied to Tyson, telling the internet personality that they have had a ‘glow up’.
‘Chris, you look so cute and happy. I’m so extremely thrilled for you and glad you get to do this. Congrats babe,’ another user said.
‘You look actually amazing,’ another said.
A fourth replied: ‘Yippee! Chris you look beautiful. Stay safe and stay hydrated. Keep slaying.’
Tyson revealed news of his transformation in April. They wrote on social media at the time: ‘Informed consent HRT (hormone replacement therapy) saved my and many others’ lives. The hurdles gnc (gender nonconforming) people have to jump through to get life-saving gender-affirming healthcare in a 1st world country is wild to me.
‘Just let people make informed decisions about their own bodies.’

HRT is a process for those that wish to identify as gender non-conforming in which sex hormone medication is administered to allow them to achieve a more traditionally masculine or feminine look.
People assigned male at birth are typically prescribed estrogen as it blocks testosterone and allows people to better align with their gender identity.
Tyson previously revealed how their physical appearance ‘has already started to change’ following their first two months of treatment.
The star said they decided to start HRT two months ago and that becoming a parent to his two-year-old son Tucker had helped with his decision to start the treatment.
Tyson has the child with Katie Tyson, who he married in June 2018. It is not clear what their exact relationship status is after the YouTuber announced his treatment.
Tyson originally came out as bisexual in November 2020. He credited his son with helping him get through his treatment. The YouTuber tweeted: ‘If I didn’t have this little nugget I’d never have gotten this far.
‘He’s taught me so much about myself in such a short time. I can’t wait to learn through life together.’
Tyson revealed he was going through HRT after a Twitter user shared side-by-side photographs of him before and after the therapy, while asking ‘bro wtf happened’.
