Married ice dancing pair Madison Chock and Evan Bates have been in the spotlight in the 2026 Olympics in Milan, Italy, and they’re also been part of a controversy that’s difficult to ignore.

The pair won the silver medal in the free skate competition on Wednesday, February 11, but many viewers watching thought they should have won gold. Instead, Guillaume Cizeron and Laurence Beaudry Fournier of France won the the gold with a score of 77.06, according to U.S. Figure Skating research, just inching out Chock and Bates.

But, that’s all in the past, the these two are still winners who have silver medals to their name. They also have a shiny new deal outside of skating.

Madison Chock and Evan Bates: Married Couple Shares News Outside of Skating After Olympics Appearance

On Monday, February 16, Chock and Bates took to social media to share photos from an ad they’re doing for Honda. So, they’re taking a step outside of the rink and starting to work with brands on a personal level. “Behind the scenes of our commercial with Honda. So much fun shooting this,” they stated on the post, hash tagging it, “Honda partner.”

Honda had previously announced that they’re the official automotive partner of Team USA. They’re working with a handful of athletes at the Games.

“Honda is proudly fueling American athletes currently competing at the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 and those looking ahead to the LA28 Summer Olympics,” the company said in a statement. “This partnership embodies the brand’s core belief in “The Power of Dreams” — the same philosophy that drives every vehicle we build.”

In their announcement, Honda stated of Chock and Bates, “Olympic gold medalists and three-time world champions, this duo is known for their artistry, innovation, and consistency.”

The company adds of the rest of its roster, “This inspiring roster spans Olympic and Paralympic sports, highlighting diversity, determination, and next-level performance.”

“As the Official Automotive Partner of Team USA, Honda continues its long-standing commitment to supporting world-class athletes on their journey to excellence—both on and off the competition stage,” Honda adds in a statement. “From the ice rink to the mountain slopes, these athletes embody the values that define the Honda brand: resilience, performance, reliability, and The Power of Dreams.”

Madison Chock and Evan Bates Still Feel Like Winners After Silver Medal Victory at Olympics

Even though Chock and Bates didn’t score a gold, they still feel good about what they did in Milan.

“I think the real accomplishment is the feeling that we had when we finished our program. That’s the Olympic dream,” Chock told the official Olympics website in an interview one day after their showing. “That’s the feeling that you want to have when you compete and we got to feel that; and there’s nothing greater.”

“It really felt like we delivered a gold medal performance,” Chock added. “And for us, in our minds and in our hearts, we know that to be true. [But] you prepare for anything as an athlete. You have the mental strength to overcome any scenario.”

It’s not just about winning. It’s also about the journey. “Navigating all of the ups and downs and using skating as a method of growing closer” is what we’re proud of, Bates told the outlet of their run at the Olympics.
