Arne Slot has seen the majority of his Liverpool squad called up for international duty this month, with 19 first-team players among those in action in September.

After three wins from three to kick off their Premier League title defence, the Liverpool squad have departed for the international break.

It is set to be a particularly busy period for the Reds, with 20 players from Slot’s first team called up by their countries.

That includes deadline-day signing Alexander Isak, who is expected to play his first minutes of the season in Sweden’s World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo.

Virgil van DijkRyan Gravenberch and Cody Gakpo are all with the Netherlands squad, though the injured Jeremie Frimpong misses out.

Hungary have called up Dominik Szoboszlai and Milos Kerkez, while Ibrahima Konate and – for the first time – Hugo Ekitike are in the France squad.

Alexis Mac Allister can look to build up his fitness while on Argentina duty, with Alisson also heading to South America to join up with Brazil.

Germany boss Julian Nagelsmann has again called up Florian Wirtz, while Andy Robertson will captain Scotland and Mohamed Salah will wear the armband for Egypt.

Wataru Endo is another of Liverpool’s international captains and he remains part of the squad for Japan.

Conor Bradley is with the Northern Ireland squad, Giorgi Mamardashvili will pick up game time with Georgia and Giovanni Leoni could make his debut for Italy.

Meanwhile Trey Nyoni is part of the England U19s and Rio Ngumoha rejoins the England U18s.

Loanees Kostas Tsimikas, Lewis Koumas and Vitezslav Jaros will be in action for Greece, Wales and Czechia respectively.

Armin Pecsi (Hungary U21s), Trent Kone-Doherty (Republic of Ireland U21s), Jayden Danns (England U20s) and Kornel Misciur (Poland U19s) are all involved at youth level.

It means Joe Gomez, Federico Chiesa, Joe Gomez and goalkeeper Freddie Woodman are the only Liverpool first-team players not called up without injury, with Frimpong and Stefan Bajcetic both ruled out due to fitness concerns.
