Like mother, like daughter! How Lilibet is following in Meghan’s footsteps with her love of going barefoot – while Archie was dressed to impress for Easter

Princess Lilibet has proven she’s following in her mother’s footsteps as she showed off her love of being barefoot when outside.

In an Instagram clip shared by the Duchess of Sussex this weekend, the four-year-old could be seen racing around her family’s garden at their Montecito home as she joined her brother, Prince Archie, in an Easter egg hunt.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s eldest child was dressed to impress in a pair of navy trainers, teamed with smart black trousers and a blue jacket.

In stark contrast, his sister looked every inch the California cool girl in a pink floral Janie and Jack dress, with a pair of matching rabbit ears and her flowing auburn hair falling loosely around her shoulders.

Lilibet’s also inherited her mother’s love of going barefoot – with both the young royal and Meghan often opting to walk through their gardens without wearing shoes in snaps shared to the former actress’s social media account.

But it’s not only at home that the Princess adopts a shoeless look – she’s previously been spotted kicking off her shoes during a family trip to Disneyland to celebrate her birthday and on an outing to a pumpkin patch.

The royal’s relaxed style contrasts with her royal cousin Princess Charlotte who is usually seen in more formal attire – namely floral dresses, cashmere cardigans and bows in her neatly styled hair.

Meghan’s love of going barefoot in her home or a garden is well-documented, with the mother-of-two often preferring to go shoeless in her As Ever promo shots despite her enviable collection of stilettos.

Now it seems her daughter also prefers to avoid footwear, with all-pink outfits and no slippers or shoes becoming a go-to outfit for the youngster in the photos and videos shared by her mother online.

Meghan previously revealed why she always goes barefoot to greet guests at her Montecito mansion during a book event in California, adding the act ‘demystifies’ her to people.

The Duchess also gushed about her ‘incredible’ daughter, Princess Lilibet, while chatting with close friend Courtney Adamo at Godmothers bookstore in Summerland.

During the conversation, which was livestreamed online, Meghan revealed her go-to move for making her guests feel comfortable was to open the door of her and Harry’s $29million home while ‘barefoot’ with an ‘apron on’.

The Duchess said: ‘It demystifies. People walk in and go, “Oh, she’s in this with me.” And what are they drawn to? Your kitchen. They come right in, and suddenly everyone’s a little bit softened.’

At the event last year, which was titled Compare Notes on Creating a Home That’s Filled With Joy, Meghan also shared details of how she and Harry are raising their children.

She opened up about the parenting tips and techniques her children respond best to – including the ‘rose and thorn’ ritual that is a particular favourite of Lilibet’s.

The ‘rose and thorn’ exercise – sometimes referred to as ‘rose, bud, and thorn’ – helps children open up and reflect on their lives by sharing a positive experience (rose), difficult moment (thorn) and something they are looking forward to (bud).

Meghan said the activity can be particularly helpful when they only give ‘yes and no answers’.

‘Our daughter, she’s four and she’s a very strong personality and she’s incredible,’ Meghan said. ‘And now she’s in this moment where I say, “What’s your rose and your thorn?” And she goes, “My day was just a blast”.’

Whilst Meghan and her family enjoyed the spring holiday in the US, back in England, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the traditional Easter service alongside other senior royals.

Princess Charlotte received a loving pat from her grandfather, the King, while her cousins celebrated miles away, having had very few meetings with their father’s family.

In one video shared by the Duchess of Sussex, Lilibet walked through the garden wearing bunny ears and carrying a plush rabbit.

In a rare close-up video, Archie was then seen decorating an Easter egg by painting it while it spins on a dinosaur-themed wheel, creating colourful patterns. The Duchess was also seen feeding her chickens.

The two children were then seen running through the garden together with baskets in hand as they began their Easter egg hunt.

Prince Harry could not be seen in any of the videos shared by the Duchess.

Meghan shared the video just a day after Harry posted a selfie from a ski trip with former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and Winter Olympian Eileen Gu.
