Landman Season 3: When Can Fans Expect The Hit Show To Return?

Now that Season 2 of Landman has wrapped up… how long will fans have to wait for Season 3?
I’m glad you asked! After that chaotic ending to the oil drama’s second season (that basically saved the entirety of Season 2 from being labeled as “unwatchable”), fans of the hit Taylor Sheridan show are chomping at the bit to find out what will happen with all of their favorite characters, like Billy Bob Thornton’s Tommy Norris or Demi Moore’s Cami Miller.
There were quite a few “so what comes next?” cliffhangers at the end of the show’s sophomore run.
The good news is that Season 3 of Landman has been ordered and is already in the works. And we kind of had a good idea that was happening even before the third season’s order officially came in. Showrunner Christian Wallace told The Hollywood Reporter back in November that Season 1 was really the set up, and Season 2 was barely skimming the surface:
“We barely skimmed the surface in season one and, after season two, I feel like we’re still just skimming the surface. We got to know these characters in season one, and now we get to spend more time with them in season two. We get to raise the stakes. They are so fun to be around.
This world is so rich — West Texas, oil and gas, Fort Worth, the upstairs downstairs of this whole thing. It’s such fertile soil for storytelling. Our cast has added so much depth to the characters. They know them so well now that they make it easy to tell an entertaining story.”
So that has to mean that Season 3 of Landman will really get wild, right?
Now that we know the potential contents of Landman’s third season… let’s see if we can figure out when it should air, shall we? I’ll turn your attention to a quote that Sam Elliott gave to ExtraTV. The 81-year-old, mustachioed actor was talking about the second season of Landman when he revealed that the cast and crew were planning to get back together in early 2026 to start on Season 3:
“I’m excited to see what unfolds in (Landman) Season 3. I mean, we’re talking about Season 2, but that’s backstory for us at this point. We’re all kind of looking toward to April and May when we start shooting Season 3.”
April and May, you say?
If that shooting schedule that Elliott laid out is true (and from everything I’ve seen, it is), then that would mean that Landman Season 3 would be following along on the exact same timeline as Season 2. Landman’s second season started shooting in April of 2025, and was ready to go for a Paramount+ premiere in November. Taylor Sheridan has always been the type that likes to keep his shows on tight, every-year release schedule, so fans should probably expect the same for Season 3. Even with his other shows like Tulsa King and Mayor Of Kingstown, the general rhythm has been film in the spring, premiere in the fall.
That’s not a bad silver lining, right? Having one of your favorite shows go on a break can leave you dealing with a feeling of emptiness. But having something to look forward to – like Landman returning in November of this year – just might be enough to get you through.
Here’s a Season 2 recap in case you wanted to reminisce:
