Josie Gibson, who celebrates her 40th birthday today, has been candid about her love life over the years, recalling the moment she knew the relationship with her ex-partner was over

Josie Gibson knew the moment the relationship with her son’s father was over after a comment he made towards her.

This Morning star Josie, who celebrates her 40th birthday today, was preparing to celebrate her first Christmas with baby Reggie and then partner Terry James at the time. The pair had known each other for two decades before getting together.

But in an unearthed interview on White Wine Question Time with Kate Thornton from 2019, Josie recalled the moment she was done with their relationship. It led to her moving out of the family home and into a property she rented out.

She explained: “I spent four days cooking Christmas dinner, getting it all in and preparing it, and spent four days cleaning up and then he went to me: ‘You haven’t even buffed the sides’.

“I said ‘buff your own bloody sides’. Then he started moaning about my shoes in the hallway and I thought ‘do you know what, this is it now’.

Josie says she is now focussing on her career and her son.
“I said: ‘If you don’t like it, pack our stuff, we will go’ and he packed up all our stuff in black bags and took it to a house I rent out. I didn’t think he would actually do it.”

It was the final straw for former Big Brother contestant Josie, who also criticised her ex’s decision to sleep in a “campervan” when Reggie was just five months old. She added: “We’d come back from the hospital and he didn’t even come into the house.

“He slept in the campervan in the garden, he’d never come in because he needs his sleep. So I got up for all of the night feeds, so it was a build-up of things.”

Josie claimed that while she bought her ex a skiing holiday for Christmas, she received nothing, “not even a card from Reg”. It led the star to spending New Year’s Eve in a hotel with the tot, she explained.

Terry and Josie eventually moved in together again during lockdown so he could help her look after the youngster. Explaining the unusual set-up to the Loose Women panel, Josie said: “He’s one of those people… You can’t live with him, you can’t live without it. It’s taken a pandemic, and a year and a half…and we’ve never got on so well!”

However, in December 2021, the presenter revealed Terry was no longer living with her and Reggie, saying: “He’s [Terry] moved out now. I’m choosing to do it on my own for a little bit at the moment.”

She recently told the Mirror that “Reg is my biggest distraction,” adding that “it wouldn’t be fair” to attempt to date someone. She said: “My time is split between my career and my son, where would anyone fit in?”
