Prince William and Kate Middleton’s longtime nanny may leave the Wales family soon.
That’s because she was trained at the Norland College, whose graduates mostly take care of kids ages 0-8.
Prince Louis turns 8 next month and Prince George, 12, is expected to start boarding school in the fall.

As Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis continue to grow up in the royal spotlight, some fans of the Wales family have begun to anticipate a day in the near future when they will no longer need a full-time nanny. Though far from guaranteed, that milestone moment could come when Louis turns 8 next month. That’s because the children’s current nanny, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, was trained at Norland College, whose graduates specialize in “the early years,” a.k.a. 0-8.

Borrallo joined the Wales family when Prince George, who is now 12, was just 8 months old. The future king is likely headed to boarding school in the fall, though it appears it won’t be Eton. Indeed, Barrallo’s services have been so appreciated over the years that William recently honored her with a special investiture at Windsor Castle. Borrallo received the Royal Victorian Medal in Silver for “services to the Prince and Princess of Wales.”

“Maria loves the children dearly,” a source once told People. “She can be firm and strict, but she is very loving and soft with them too.”

As for William and Kate, the proud parents are reportedly hands-on when it comes to their three kids, especially when it comes to school drop-off. The princess in particular brings a “stabilizing normality” to the household thanks to her non-aristocratic upbringing, according to one palace insider.

“Coming from a different background, she appreciates the importance of having family time,” another source explained. “She wasn’t brought up in that aristocratic setting where you see the children for a short time each day.”

Indeed, Middleton “runs things at home with the kids and the schedules,” a friend previously told People. “She is hugely involved in every single part of their day.”
