The last two weeks for Ilia Malinin probably felt like two years for the world champion men’s figure skater.
He arrived in Milan, Italy, as a star in his sport and became a household name among millions worldwide as the “Quad God” to viewers of the Winter Olympic Games.
Malinin failed to win the men’s individual competition after an uncharacteristically mistake-ridden free skate, but the American did leave theĀ OlympicsĀ with a gold medal he helped the United States win in the team event.
But scores, medals, and even next month’s world championship aren’t what social media is discussing right now with Malinin.
It’s the possibility of him dating a fellow Olympic figure skater.

On Monday, photos of Malinin in Milan were posted online, showing him visiting a local cat cafe with South Korean figure skater Lee Hae-in.
Malinin, in a recent interview, stated he was single, but fans are wondering whether he might have found love at the Olympic Village with one of the best women’s figure skaters in the world.
At the 2026 Games, Lee finished in eighth, coincidentally the same place the “Quad God” finished following his fall in his final competitive performance of the event.
Along with the sighting at the cat cafe, the two have been consistently on each other’s Instagram pages, quickly responding whenever the other posts.

The eighth placers in their respective competitions are expected to both be at next month’s World Championships in Prague.
Malinin will be going for his third-straight world championship in the men’s division. Lee will be in her sixth Worlds, finishing 9th in 2025, with her best finish being a silver medal in 2023.
