Ryan Reynolds looks back on his last words to Raymond Chan before the latter’s unfortunate demise.

The tragic passing of Ray Chan recently made news around the world. A highly respected Hollywood artist, Chan was best known for being an art director in the production design department at Marvel Studios. Some of his most memorable credits include Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Infinity War, and Doctor Strange.
A host of people who had worked with Chan in the past took to social media to express their sorrow at his passing. This includes Ryan Reynolds, who was collaborating with Chan on the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine at the time of the latter’s passing. Reynolds took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his feelings over Chan’s demise in a heartfelt note that is being appreciated by fans of the actor and of the MCU.
Becoming A Part Of The MCU

Born in Oldham, Greater Manchester, in 1967, Raymond Chan’s parents were immigrants from Hong Kong. The young Chan attended Liverpool School of Art to study graphic design and went on to earn a master’s degree before making a move to Hollywood. Some of Chan’s earliest professional credits in popular movies include 1995’s Hackers and 1997’s Robinson Crusoe.
After making a name for himself in the entertainment industry over two decades, Chan found himself working on the then-fledgling Marvel Cinematic Universe as a supervising art director. Starting from Thor: The Dark World, Raymond Chan made significant contributions to the ever-burgeoning success of the MCU as an art director. His association continued with Deadpool & Wolverine, where he and Ryan Reynolds collaborated closely to make sure Deadpool’s entry into the MCU would be pulled off without a hitch.
On X, Reynolds posted a note along with a picture explaining his association with Ray Chan, and the time the duo had spent together while making Deadpool & Wolverine:
The actor also paid tribute to Chan’s skills as an art director, and his ability to build worlds in collaborative and inclusive ways. Reynolds finished off his message with an acknowledgment of their final meeting before Chan’s passing.
Reynold’s co-star in the movie, Hugh Jackman, also mourned Chan’s demise through a post on his Instagram stories, where he acknowledged Chan’s contributions to the movie and named him one of the most talented people the actor had ever worked with in the industry.
