Bruce Willis’ Wife Has Heartbreaking Message Amid Actor’s Ongoing Health Issues
Emma Heming-Willis was in her feels on Monday, Nov. 17. Bruce Willis‘ wife shared a throwback photo of her husband with one of their daughters on his shoulders on her Instagram Stories, adding the caption “dads.” In another photo, Heming-Willis included a message that instantly broke our hearts.
“Love is never forgetting how they made you feel,” she captioned a throwback photo of Willis giving her a kiss on the cheek while the couple was at a dinner event.
The message was especially emotional, given Willis’ ongoing health issues. The Die Hard actor was diagnosed with aphasia in 2022 and by February of the following years, doctors were able to confirm that he specifically has frontotemporal dementia (FTD).
According to the Cleveland Clinic, FTD can affect a person’s behavior, movement, personality and/or language. As Willis’ condition has progressed over the past two years, Heming-Willis made the decision to move him into a home where he can receive hands-on, round-the-clock care.
“It was the hardest thing,” Heming-Willis told People magazine over the summer. Willis’ new home is just down the street from his family and provides “a calm and serene atmosphere,” which is crucial to Willis’ wellbeing these days.
“We have two young children, and it was just important that they had a home that supported their needs and that Bruce could have a place that supported his needs … The kids can have playdates and sleepovers [again] and not have to walk around tiptoeing,” Heming-Willis explained.
Willis wife has been inspired by her husband’s health journey as she became his sole caregiver when he fell ill. She’s now become an advocate for caregivers, speaking out on important topics such as caregiver burnout, all while hoping to shed additional light on FTD.
On September 9, she released her book, “The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope, and Yourself on the Caregiving Path,” which has quickly become a best seller.
