Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek dead at 48 after cancer battle

Actor James Van Der Beek’s widow, mother to their six children, has issued a heartbreaking plea for help while announcing his death.

Former Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek has died at the age of 48 following a public battle with cancer in recent years.

The sad news came via a statement posted to his official Instagram account today. At the same time, his widow Kimberley launched a GoFundMe page, asking the public for financial support of his family.

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith, and grace. There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend,” the statement read.

No cause of death has been announced, but Van Der Beek was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2023, and went public with the illness a year later.

And in the wake of his death, Van Der Beek’s wife Kimberley has launched a GoFundMe page, explaining that she and the couple’s six children face an “uncertain future” after her late husband’s ongoing cancer treatment left them “out of funds.”
