Shannon Briggs and Rampage Jackson verbally spar as Nick Cannon interviews them after the main event at Triad Combat at Globe Life Field on Novembe...

After years of build-up and many cancelled dates, we may be finally about to see Shannon Briggs and Rampage Jackson’s crossover showdown.

The hysterical duo are former world champions in their respective sports; Briggs as a heavyweight boxer and Jackson in the UFC light-heavyweight ranks. They have been out of action for a number of years, but have developed one of the most hilarious feuds in combat history since 2020.

They had initially gone head-to-head as coaches with Triller’s Triad Combat, and were due to fight in Qatar last night. But the bout was called off due to fraud concerns with promoters and Briggs instead travelled to New York where he will launch a boxing academy in his native Brownsville.

Shannon Briggs names timeframe and location for Rampage Jackson fight

Former world heavyweight boxing champion Shannon Briggs was watching on as Bruce Carrington defeated Brayan De Gracia in New York last night. And speaking with Bloody Elbow in an exclusive chat, he declared that he will definitely be fighting again this year.

He has offered to step in as the backup opponent for Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson in November. He also claimed that he will honour his promise to fight Rampage Jackson first in a boxing match before making the transition to MMA for a rematch.

“The promoters didn’t come through with what they said they were going to do,” he explained of the cancelled Qatar date. “They was full of s***, so we actually had to make it happen hopefully in September or October, probably in Miami.

“It’s going to happen, Rampage, I’m going to kick your a**, you’re a pie! We’re going to do both, boxing and then MMA. 100 per cent, I’ll fight Mike Tyson, Jake Paul, anybody.”

Briggs hasn’t fought since 2016, but has been constantly angling for a return to the ring ever since even after turning 52 last December. The two-time former world champion expects his next outing to be against Jackson, but if not he is willing to be the back-up for Paul vs Tyson.

Having previously worked with Jake alongside his older brother Logan Paul ahead of his 2019 bout with KSI, Briggs knows the family well. And he even insisted that he would forego a purse in order to make the fight happen.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul attend the Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson press conference at The Apollo Theater on May 13, 2024 in New York City.

“I think it’s a great fight,” Briggs said of the controversial bout, which was rescheduled from July to November due to the 58-year-old ring legend having an ulcer flare-up. “It’s great for Mike because he can still make money, it’s amazing.

“You’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, if it happens it’s great. But if it don’t? I’m here, let’s go champ! 100 per cent, sign me up, I’ll do it for free, they don’t even got to pay me! Anyone besides Jake Paul I got to get paid.”
