Eminem Suffers Devastating Personal Loss as Fans Shower Rapper With Prayers
Eminem suffered a devastating personal loss, the death of his grandma, Betty Kresin, as fans flooded the rapper with prayers and condolences.
On Wednesday, March 11, sources close to the family confirmed to TMZ that Eminem’s maternal grandmother died at 87 on Tuesday, March 10, at her home in Missouri. Kresin reportedly died from complications amid a battle with breast cancer.
In the comments of an Instagram post about his grandma’s death, fans took to the comments in droves with supportive messages.
One Eminem fan pointed out, “That was the grandma’s house he always went to as a kid when things got rough at home. She loved him so much and always took care of him. RIP đđ.”
Another Instagram user wrote, “Prayers for the family đ,” as someone else echoed, “Prayers up for Grandma Shady’s family.”
A different fan shared, “So sad, rest in peace to a beautiful soul, Praying for the family and friends, so sad.”
Meanwhile, yet another person commented, “Nah, this hurts. She raised that man.”
A little over a year ago, Eminem suffered the loss of his mother, Debbie Nelson, after she died at 69 following a battle with lung cancer.
In 2000, Kresin reflected on the vastly different nature of her relationship with her grandson after he became famous, during an interview with The Mirror, per Z100. She called Eminem’s music “vile and disgusting.”
Additionally, Kresin lamented, “Neither his mother Debbie nor I can figure out what happened to this sweet, caring youngster. In just over 12 years heâs gone from telling me âGrandma I love you,â to âGo to hell.â It just breaks my heart.â
