Emily in Paris will likely return to its namesake capital at some point (especially if French president Emmanuel Macron has his way), but season 5 is shepherding Lily Collins’ U.S.-born striver from France to Italy for its upcoming fifth season. And though new episodes will introduce several sun-kissed cosmopolitans, the show’s core ensemble isn’t going anywhere.
So, what’s Emily up to in the Eternal City? And how will the rest of her pals, lovers, and colleagues fit into the uprooted narrative? Here’s everything we know about Emily in Paris season 5.

Lily Collins as Emily in ‘Emily in Paris’ season 5
The season 4 finale of Emily in Paris shook things up considerably. Emily is chosen to help organize and oversee Agence Grateau’s new office in Rome, a city as rich in history and ancient architecture as it is world-class food, fashion, and culture. There, Emily will not only be afforded endless opportunities for selfies, but also the chance to work with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), her latest paramour.
The season ended, however, with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), fresh off his restaurant scoring a Michelin star, determined to win her back — even if that means chasing her to Rome.
Elsewhere in the finale, Mindy (Ashley Park) is devastated to see her Eurovision dreams dashed, but she nevertheless gets a win when she’s asked to be a judge and sing her new song on Chinese Popstar.

Lily Collins as Emily, Samuel Arnold as Julien, Bruno Gouery as Luc, and Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie Grateau in ‘Emily in Paris’ season 5
“Now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, Emily faces professional and romantic challenges as she adapts to life in a new city,” reads the season’s official synopsis. “But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships.”
Following the season 4 finale, director and executive producer Andrew Fleming spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the show’s new locale. “Darren [Star, series creator] and I have been talking about this since the beginning, that Rome would be the next logical place just because it’s sort of the yin to Paris’ yang, it’s the romantic city in Europe that isn’t Paris,” he said. “I mean, there are a lot of romantic cities in Europe, but it’s the other big thing.”
Fleming also noted how Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Emily’s boss, and her coworker Luc (Bruno Gouery) both speak Italian, so “there was this organic way to kind of enter the culture that way.”
He also discussed how Gabriel and Emily’s story isn’t over just yet, but you shouldn’t count Marcello out just yet. “I know that it’s not over between them because they have to work together and they’re friends and they’re emotionally entangled,” Fleming said. “But for the moment, she’s with Marcello.”
Is there an Emily in Paris season 5 trailer?
The Emily in Paris season 5 trailer highlights the stunning thoroughfares (and boozy spritzes) of Italy, but all that beauty can’t help fill the Paris-shaped hole in Emily’s heart. It doesn’t help that she appears to be floundering in her new role.
“I don’t think my ideas are translating,” she laments, “but Rome wasn’t built in a day.”
Emily longs to be reunited with her friends in Paris, where “everything is just going on without me.” But, as the trailer declares, sometimes it’s important to “embrace the detour.”

Minnie Driver as Princess Jane in ‘Emily in Paris’ season 5
Despite the new locale, you can expect Emily in Paris‘ core cast to return in season 5. That includes Collins, of course, but also Leroy-Beaulieu, Park, Bravo, Gouery, and Franceschini. You can also expect to see Samuel Arnold (Julien), William Abadie (Antoine Lambert), and Lucien Laviscount (Alfie)
Newcomers include Bryan Greenberg (The Mindy Project), prolific French actress Michèle Laroque (Filles du feu), and the Oscar-, Emmy-, and Golden Globe-nominated Minnie Driver.
Driver plays Princess Jane, an influencer who marries into royalty. “She’s something of an operator. She’s not a Disney princess,” Driver revealed during a chat on Live with Kelly and Mark, adding that her character is an old friend of Sylvie’s. “Mayhem ensues,” she teased.
