Now, Weems returns as Wednesday’s spirit guide after her nasty fall at the end of Season 2, Part 1. At the heart, the series treats itself like a murder mystery, with co-creators Gough and Millar doubling down on the concept in the featurette. The breathtaking scenes still to come look to be slowly zeroing in on a masquerade, which brings everyone together as the mystery finally unravels. Seen amongst the revelers is Steve Buscemi‘s Principal Barry Dort, and Wednesday’s family including her parents, Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Gomez (Luis Guzman), and her grandmother, Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley.)
Gwendoline Christie’s Weems Back in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2
“We had had discussions at the end of Season 1 about – we already knew that we were gonna kill her. So we were saying, ‘Oh man, well, this has been a terrible mistake on our part. How are we gonna undo this? Is there a way we could bring her back?’ I would say, ‘Well, she’s a shapeshifter. Maybe she isn’t dead. Maybe all the shapeshifters, their natural form is [Weems]. Maybe if they all reverted back to their initial state…’ That’s what I wanted. We were throwing out all these ideas, and then the writers came up with her being my spirit guide.”
With Wednesday’s new spirit guide in place, that will hopefully mean a positive turn in her psychic abilities, which could lead to circumventing Enid’s impending doom. Wednesday Season 2, Part 2 unravels that mystery on September 3. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
