The Internet has spoken — and the Academy agrees. “Slim Shady vs Marshall Mathers” just won both major Webby Awards in its category.
“Slim Shady vs Marshall Mathers: THE FACE-OFF”, a short film created for Complex by director James Larese, has officially won two Webby Awards in the highly competitive “Experimental, Innovation & Viral” category. The film took home both the Webby Winner, selected by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and the People’s Voice Award, decided by public vote.

Created to accompany Complex’s cover story for “The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)”, the film digs into the ongoing duality between Eminem’s iconic personas. It blends stylised visuals, narrative tension, and unmistakable Em energy to reflect the album’s themes.
Often called the “Oscars of the Internet”, the Webbys recognise excellence across digital platforms — from websites and apps to online video and social campaigns. This particular category honours the most groundbreaking, genre-bending content of the year, making the win all the more impressive.
And this time, both the fans and the industry were on the same page: “The Face-Off” was the best in the competition.
Another victory for Em. Another classic moment for Shady.
