Local residents have been urged to report any suspicious activity they may have witnessed along a seven-mile stretch of road in Tucson, Arizona, following Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, according to reports.

A map displaying the route, from West Sunset Road to North 1st Avenue, was reportedly circulated by Annie Guthrie, Nancy’s daughter and sister to Today Show host Savannah Guthrie. Nancy was reported missing on February 1 after failing to attend a church service.

Nancy has now been missing for six weeks and concerns are mounting that she may not be found alive. It comes after a chilling new theory emerged on how Nancy Guthrie was sickeningly taken from her home.

Nancy was last seen in Tucson on 31 January, having left her daughter Annie’s house following an evening of dinner and games. In a post on social media site X, Johnathon Lee Riches, who goes by JLRInvestigates, said the map had been sent to the local neighborhood group chat, asking them to check their dashcam/doorbell footage for suspicious activity.

“I’m told Annie Guthrie sent this map out to a neighborhood group chat & asking neighbors to check their cam footage of any suspicious activity right before & after the Kidnapping. I’m going to take this route & post it on video,” the post says.

Guthrie hasn’t been seen since 31 January. Blood was discovered on her front porch and the nature of her sudden disappearance prompted police to suspect a kidnapping.

Alleged ransom demands surfaced shortly after Nancy initially disappeared, with some requesting payments in cryptocurrency. Federal authorities haven’t verified whether these demands are legitimate and the Guthrie family have reportedly been told to disregard them.

Former prosecutor Nancy Grace, addressing the True Crime summit at South by Southwest, suggested Nancy’s relatives were likely counseled by police not to “jump on” ransom demands, although it’s been reported that multiple letters have emerged throughout the past six weeks.

Grace has also ruled out the possibility of Nancy’s family being implicated in the case, citing one particular reason. “For one reason, and one reason only, I do not believe the Guthrie family is responsible, because although it was many years ago that I first met Savannah Guthrie, she is, I’d like to assure you, not a fake TV person,” Grace stated at the Variety True Crime Summit.

It may take months to establish what happened to Nancy, despite DNA evidence being discovered at her residence. The DNA recovered from the Arizona property was “mixed,” indicating the genetic material originated from several people, which Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos acknowledged complicates the investigation and presents a greater challenge for forensic scientists to analyse.
