Lori Romero is given a special dedication in Netflix’s Western drama series Ransom Canyon. Since debuting on Netflix on Thursday, April 17, 2025, Ransom Canyon has been the number one most-watched series on the streaming platform. Even though the reviews for Ransom Canyon are mixed, resulting in a Rotten Tomatoes score of 54%, the popularity of Ransom Canyon is undeniable. It’s based on the book series by Jodi Thomas, which has spawned eight novels, including two prequels.

According to Lori Romero’s obituary, “Lori’s talent and specialization in high quality make-up and hair helped create her career with the movie industry. Her film family were a very important part of her life.”

Romero is remembered by friends, family, and colleagues for “the biggest heart. She was everyone’s best friend and was willing to step in to help anyone who needed assistance. Her laugh was infectious; when she laughed, everyone else did too.” A memorial service was held for Romero on January 18, 2025, in Albuquerque, NM.

Romero’s other notable credits as a makeup artist and hair stylist include 2017’s Just Getting Started starring Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones, the Netflix ensemble Western film The Harder They Fall (2021), Tom Hanks’ 2021 Apple movie Finch, and the recent A24 flop Opus starring Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich. Many of the films and TV shows Romero worked on were filmed in her hometown of Albuquerque, NM, including Ransom Canyon. Her final film credit will be 2026’s Coyote vs. Acme as a makeup artist.
