Daniel Radcliffe reveals the book he’s most excited for the Harry Potter TV show to adapt. Based on the book series by author J.K. Rowling, the first Harry Potter movie was released in 2001, introducing audiences to Radcliffe’s Harry, Emma Watson’s Hermione, and Rupert Grint’s Ron. After each installment achieved critical and commercial success, the epic saga concluded with its eighth film in 2011. Now, Max is set to adapt the author’s work once more with the upcoming Harry Potter TV show, which will devote one season of television to adapting each book.
In a recent interview with People, Radcliffe is asked which of Rowling’s books he’s most excited for the Max TV show to adapt. The star reveals that his most anticipated book is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Check out his comment below:
“The last one, I mean, it’ll be a while before they get to that, I assume, but that was always one of my favorite of the books and of the films.”
Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Was A Triumphant Finale For The Franchise
Will The TV Show Be Able To Top It?

There’s only one Deathly Hallows book, but the Harry Potter movie franchise split the story in two in order to properly wrap up the grand saga. While there was a great deal of anticipation for the final installment and the potential for major audience disappointment, the final film was a slam dunk. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 earned glowing reviews from critics, and currently sports a franchise high score of 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score is also a record for the franchise at 89%.
These positive reviews are supported by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2‘s box office performance. The eighth film is the highest-grossing movie in the franchise, ending its run with a remarkable $1.341 billion worldwide. As with any grand saga based on beloved IP, sticking the landing is immensely difficult, and it comes with a great deal of pressure from audiences. By my most metrics, however, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ended the series on a high note.
Capturing this same level of success and wrapping up the stories of the key Harry Potter characters will evidently be a major challenge for the upcoming TV show. The movie version of Deathly Hallows benefited from feeling like a major blockbuster, and most of the film plays out as one extended battle sequence at Hogwarts. It remains to be seen how the Harry Potter show will handle its own version of Rowling’s final book, but Radcliffe is certainly correct in saying that audiences probably won’t find out for quite some time.
