Daniel Radcliffe has a lot of experience dealing with the popularity of the Harry Potter franchise. With a new reboot in the works, the former leading actor shared valuable advice for the Max series producers.

Daniel Radcliffe grew up in the spotlight playing the titular character in eight films of the adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels. The actor was only 12 years old when he joined the franchise and shared a cautionary word for the Max reboot producers while talking to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the Tony Awards. The actor was nominated for his role in his recent Broadway show, Merrily We Roll Along, and didn’t miss the opportunity to hype up the upcoming adaptation.

Asked whether he had any advice for the upcoming actors in the Max reboot, Radcliffe admitted that he doesn’t have one. However, he did note that have advice for the producers. “I’ve got advice for everyone else,” Radcliffe explained. “Just like, let them be kids still. I can’t imagine what it would have been like to do that in the age of social media. We were kind of a little bit before that.” The Harry Potter film series was released between 2001 and 2011.

Radcliffe also shared he hoped he would get the chance to talk to the new actors in the reboot. “I don’t know. Hopefully, I will meet whoever that person is one day and I’ll be able to have that advice face to face, but probably not for everybody,” Radcliffe concluded.

Daniel Radcliffe Will Not Return for the Harry Potter Reboot

In April 2023, Warner Bros. officially confirmed a new Harry Potter adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s seven novels. The new reboot will be a television series and is planned to have 10 seasons, enough to provide a more faithful adaptation and enough time to include several missed details in the eight movies. The upcoming Harry Potter TV reboot is meant to hit Warner Bros.’ streaming service Max in 2026.

However, little details are known about the upcoming series. The latest update still focused on the search for a showrunner, and no cast has been announced. One thing is for sure, though: Daniel Radcliffe will not be a part of the series: “Like the rest of the world, [I’m] very excited to watch as an audience member,” Radcliffe previously shared when the Harry Potter reboot came up. Asked whether he’d be a part of the series, Radcliffe replied, “I don’t think so. I think they very wisely want to [have] a clean break. And I don’t know if it would work to have us do anything in it.”

The eight Harry Potter films, as well as the two Fantastic Beast spinoff films, are available to stream on Max.
