Like many parents, Chloe Watson Dransfield’s family had one simple rule: just send a message when you arrive safely. A quick text to let them know their daughter was okay and on her way home. But that message from Chloe never came. And the silence has never felt so heavy. 😢
Chloe, 16, from Gomersal, had been at a house party on Kennerleigh Avenue in Austhorpe, Leeds, on the night of Friday, 27 March 2026. Friends say she was laughing and enjoying herself earlier in the evening. But the gathering reportedly turned chaotic, with some attendees using nitrous oxide (laughing gas). A heated argument broke out, and Chloe decided she wanted to leave.
She sent a desperate message to a friend asking to be picked up, saying it was “all getting out of hand.” Witnesses claim a small group followed her shortly after she stepped outside alone. Shouting started the moment she turned the corner. Less than an hour later, shortly before 6am on Saturday, 28 March, neighbours found her unconscious on the street with stab wounds to her back.
Residents rushed to help, performing CPR while waiting for emergency services. One neighbour described her eyes as blank and the scene as devastating. Chloe was rushed to hospital but died a short time later. The vibrant teenager with dreams of working in hair and beauty was gone.

A Family’s Daily Heartache
Chloe’s mother, Shantelle Watson, has spoken of the unbearable pain of waiting for a message that will never arrive. In a heartfelt tribute, she called her daughter “my beautiful princess Chloe… my life, my world, my best friend.” She wrote: “I cannot live without you – I need you. You are stunning, confident, loyal, honest and my family-oriented princess. When you walk into any room it lights up with your bubbly personality. There’s a big hole in my heart that can never be filled.”
Her father and siblings echoed the grief: “We miss every single thing about her. She was beautiful, full of joy and had a wonderfully cheeky personality. Chloe was loved by everyone who knew her and the absence she leaves behind is immeasurable. We will miss her forever.”
In the family home, Chloe’s bedroom remains exactly as she left it — makeup on the dresser, clothes folded on the chair, phone charger by the bed. Her mother still checks her phone, still listens for the door, still hopes for that familiar “Mum, I’m on my way home” or “Call me when you get there.” The ordinary parental worries have been replaced by a permanent, crushing silence.

Three teenagers appear in court charged with murder of Chloe Watson Dransfield – Daily Record
The Scene and the Investigation
Kennerleigh Avenue, a quiet residential street lined with family homes and bungalows, became the focus of a major murder inquiry. Forensic officers in white protective suits examined the area while police tape cordoned off the road. Blue and white police vans lined the street as detectives from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team gathered evidence.
The investigation has been fast-moving. Seven people have now been arrested in total. Kayla Smith, 18, of Kennerleigh Avenue; Archie Rycroft, 19, of Middleton Park Road; and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons have been charged with murder. They appeared at Leeds Crown Court via video link on 2 April 2026. No pleas were entered. They were remanded in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing on 1 May, with a provisional trial date set for 10 November 2026.

Community Tributes and a Lasting Legacy
Floral tributes have continued to grow at the scene, with messages, teddy bears, and colourful bouquets left in memory of the “beautiful princess” who lit up every room. Pink balloons were released, and her school, BBG Academy, remembered her as a funny, vibrant girl with a big heart.
Neighbours expressed shock that such violence could happen on their peaceful street. “This area’s really quiet… My heart goes out to her family,” said one resident.
Chloe’s death has once again highlighted concerns about youth violence, knife crime, and parties that spiral out of control. For her family, though, the pain is intensely personal — the missed texts, the empty chair, the bedroom frozen in time.
As the court process continues, Chloe’s loved ones face the long journey of grief while holding onto memories of her confidence, loyalty, and joyful personality. They have thanked the community for its support and asked for privacy as they try to come to terms with their loss.
Anyone with information, especially video footage, is urged to contact West Yorkshire Police via the major incident public portal or by calling 101. In an emergency, always dial 999.
Chloe Watson Dransfield was a 16-year-old girl who simply wanted to get home safely. That simple message — “Call me when you get there” — never arrived. But her light, her laughter, and the love she brought to her family and friends will never be forgotten. 📱💔
