Bridgerton Showrunner Teases ‘Extremely Juicy’ Season 4 Announcements Coming Soon

Netflix’s hit series Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell recently dropped hints about the upcoming season’s even more romantic escapades. The third season has wrapped up the charming story of Colin and Penelope Featherington. Now fans are looking forward to the series’ sumptuous tales of romance and societal maneuvering.

During an interview with Reuters, Brownell, who stepped in to lead the popular series after Chris Van Dusen, promised that an update on season four is on the horizon. The showrunner said:

We will be making an announcement about the next season sooner rather than later. I can tell you that it is going to be extremely juicy.

Each installment of Bridgerton brings a new narrative, focusing on a different sibling in the titular noble family as they navigate the intricacies of love and social expectations in an opulently reimagined London. The series, based on Julia Quinn’s well-loved novels, has won the hearts of viewers with the right mix of historical elements and modern sensibilities. Reflecting on her evolution as a creative force, Brownell shared insights into her journey.

“I think as a writer you sharpen your skills every season. And as a showrunner, I feel like I learned on the job a lot this season, but now I’m really just enjoying myself and playing around and having a good time.”

Bridgerton Season 4 Sibling Showdown: Benedict, Eloise, or Francesca

Fans are starting to speculate on which Bridgerton sibling will next take the romantic lead. In a revealing interview with Glamour, showrunner Jess Brownell shared that the choice is narrowed down to Benedict, Eloise, or Francesca, noting that each character still has significant personal evolutions to explore.

I think we can be frank about the fact that it’s either Benedict, Eloise, or Francesca. All three of them have a lot of growth still ahead of them, and that’s very intentional.

Traditionally, the series has followed the sequencing of Julia Quinn’s novels, each dedicated to a different Bridgerton sibling’s quest for love in an opulent Regency England. However, deviations have occurred, most notably in the third season which featured Colin, leapfrogging over Benedict who was originally slated next in the literary series. This choice has stirred curiosity about the direction of the upcoming season.

Benedict’s narrative, based on the book An Offer from a Gentleman, may return to the spotlight in season four. This potential storyline, hinted at in the season three finale with a mention of Lady Bridgerton’s masquerade ball, an important event in Benedict’s love story in the novels, suggests a romantic intrigue could finally unfold for him.

Eloise, having concluded the third season with plans to travel the world, also remains a strong contender. Her story traditionally follows Colin’s in the sequence of the books, and her burgeoning independence could naturally segue into a more central role.

Francesca presents an intriguing possibility. Brief but compelling scenes in the third season finale hint at a larger storyline brewing. She relocates to Scotland with her new husband and his cousin, setting a dramatic backdrop that aligns with her story in the book When He Was Wicked. This narrative takes a tragic twist, leading Francesca into a poignant romance, ripe for adaptation.
