Bridgerton fans are convinced they’ve spotted a moment when the Netflix series pays homage to the Harry Potter franchise with line from Benedict in the third season
Bridgerton fans believe they have spotted a moment the show paid homage to the Harry Potter franchise in the latest Netflix release.
The smash hit series, based on the period romance novels by Julia Quinn, returned to our screens on May 16 with the first half of season 3. This time around fans are following the friends-to-lovers trope between Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan).
Once again the eligible members of the ton have been hitting the ballrooms in search of a future husband or wife. But it was at one of these where fans like Aynsley Broom believe they spotted the moment “when Bridgerton season 3 makes a Harry Potter reference” and it has gone viral online.
In a video, which has gained more than 68,000 likes, the superfan said: “Not Benedict Bridgerton, literally pulling a Harry Potter by going why are they always in packs?”
Aynsley then showed a clip from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) asks his pal Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint): “Why do they have to travel in packs? And how are you supposed to get one on their own to ask them?”
She then compared it to Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) moment of panic at a ball in the first half of Bridgerton Season 3, which was released on May 16.
He is seen standing with his brother Colin surrounded by eligible ladies when he says: “They’ve taken to hunting in packs.”
But Aynsley wasn’t the only one to spot the supposed Harry Potter reference as TikTok users took to the comments to give their opinions. One user said: “I have always thought there were similarities between Benedict and Harry.”
Another added: “I LITERALLY THOUGHT OF HARRY POTTER TOO,” as a third commented: “Caught that! Hilarious.” Meanwhile a fourth wrote: “The panic in his voice got me the first time I watched it.”
