The resurfaced clip of a 2014 Vogue interview has gone viral
Actress says Shawshank Redemption is the film she laughs at the hardes
Blake Lively is facing yet more backlash after a clip of a Vogue interivew resurfaced from 10 years ago.
The 37-year-old has been under fire over her promotion of controversial film It Ends With Us, and a rumored feud with her co-star and the film’s director, Justin Baldoni.
A series of old interview clips, which appear to show Lively in a bad light, have since resurfaced in recent weeks. The latest video originally aired in July 2014 and shows a Vogue journalist asking the actress which ‘movie you laughed the hardest through’ – with the actress’s response baffling social media users.
‘Shawshank Redemption,’ she says with a straight face.
The journalist quickly laughs before swiftly moving on to the next question.
However, he maintains his innocence and eventually befriends a fellow prisoner, played by Morgan Freeman, while also experiencing the brutality of prison.
Blake’s response does appear to be an attempt at humor, but social media users couldn’t help but point out the awkward exchange.
‘The Shawshank Redemption? I cried watching it,’ one astounded user said.
‘Even as a joke I would not have picked Shawshank Redemption. Something like The Human Centipede or Silence of the Lambs would be better suited,’ another user joked.
‘Shawshank is one of my favorite movies but to LAUGH through it is INSANE! I cry literally every time I watch it,’ another wrote.

‘Guys, is just sarcasm but badly delivered,’ someone said, coming to Lively’s defense.
Lively has recently faced criticism for how she has promoted It Ends With Us, amid allegations of a rumored rift with Justin Baldoni, who plays her on-screen love interest.
The film, which is based on Colleen Hoover’s novel of the same name, follows Lily Bloom, played by Blake, who becomes embroiled in an abusive relationship with Ryle Kincaid, portrayed by Justin.
Rumors of a divide between the two stars first arose after fans noticed that they’d failed to do any press together leading up to the movie’s release, and didn’t interact at the red carpet premiere in Los Angeles.
Lively has since endured backlash over her past ‘mean girl’ behavior and comments in multiple resurfaced interviews over the years, including her use of the transgender slur ‘tranny’.
The film focuses heavily on domestic abuse, with the Gossip Girl actress criticized for the way she has appeared to make light of serious questions about the themes during interviews.
Amid the controversy, a journalist resurfaced an ‘uncomfortable’ interview that she had with Blake in 2016, which further increased public fury.
During that sit-down, the actress made a snarky comment about Norwegian reporter Kjersti Flaa’s ‘bump’ after she had congratulated a then-pregnant Blake on her impending arrival – but the journalist was not pregnant.
