Billy Bob Thornton isn’t backing down — he’s doubling down.

As Landman faces backlash for being “too harsh” and “going too far,” Thornton says the opposite: this is exactly what the oil fields are like.

The language, the tension, the chaos — not Hollywood drama, but real life.

No filters. No softening. No apologies. 🔥

‘Landman’ star Billy Bob Thornton is bringing his band to Oklahoma

Oscar- and Emmy-nominated actor Billy Bob Thornton, who stars on the hit streaming series “Landman,” is heading to Oklahoma.

Thornton and his renowned band, The Boxmasters, have announced the dates for their summer “Morro Rock Tour,” which includes Sooner State casino shows in the Oklahoma City and Tulsa areas.

Led by Thornton, who goes by the musical alter ego W.R. “Bud” Thornton, and his longtime collaborator J.D. Andrew, The Boxmasters are known for their signature fusion of rock ‘n’ roll with vintage pop influences.

Since forming in 2006, the prolific band has built a diverse catalog of music rooted in the sounds of the 1960s, drawing inspiration from artists such as The Beatles, The Byrds and The Beach Boys, as well as The Mothers of Invention, The Allman Brothers, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine and Big Star.

When are Billy Bob Thornton and his band The Boxmasters releasing their new album?

The Boxmasters’ upcoming tour will launch in conjunction with the release of their newest album, “In the Bay.” It’s the band’s 21st album, and most of the songs are inspired by or were written in the small beach town of Morro Bay, California. It also features Teddy Andreadis, a longtime band member.

Known for their energetic live performances, The Boxmasters have built a devoted fan base throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and the United Kingdom. In addition to developing strong followings as a headliner at venues across the country, the band has toured with artists such as ZZ Top, Steve Miller and George Thorogood.

Ahead of their summer tour, The Boxmasters will perform as part of the star-studded lineup at this year’s Stagecoach Festival, set for April 24-26 in Southern California’s Coachella Valley.

Naturally, the band has to work around Thornton’s other show-biz job as an acclaimed film and television actor. The Arkansas native earned two Academy Award nominations — for best actor and best adapted screenplay — for the 1996 drama “Sling Blade.” He won an Oscar for his writing on the film, which he also directed.

Thornton garnered a 1999 Oscar nomination for best supporting actor for “A Simple Plan” and a 2014 Primetime Emmy nomination for best actor in a miniseries or a movie for “Fargo.”

He recently snagged a Critics Choice Award nomination for best actor in a drama series for his turn in the hit Paramount+ oilfield series “Landman,” co-created by “Yellowstone” mastermind Taylor Sheridan. In December, “Landman” was renewed for an upcoming third season after Season 2 set viewership records for Paramount+, achieving more than 9.2 million streaming views for its premiere episode in the first two days on the streaming service.

Filming on Season 3 of the series, which co-stars Oscar nominees Demi Moore, Andy Garcia and Sam Elliott as well as Ali Larter, is set to begin in May in Texas.
