Memphis rapper known for ‘Hit the Quan’ arrested in Miami after SWAT standoff

MIAMI, Fl. (WMC) – A rapper known for a viral dance song was taken into custody early Tuesday after he barricaded himself for hours inside a home in Plantation, Florida.

Plantation police say Richard Colbert, also known as iHeartMemphis and best known for his 2015 hit “Hit the Quan,” barricaded himself inside a home on Gatehouse Road around 10 p.m. Monday.

Nearly four hours later, police took Colbert into custody on active warrants for written or electronic threats to kill.

NBC Miami spoke with Hank VanBaalen, president of the homeowner’s association, who said the rapper was renting a home and was apparently experiencing some kind of episode.

VanBaalen told NBC6 that Colbert was live streaming the standoff.
