Prince Harry was interviewed on American TV ahead of his book release

Prince Harry has said he does not view Camilla Parker Bowles as an ‘evil stepmother’ as he disclosed his relationship with the Queen Consort in an interview on American TV.
The Duke of Sussex appeared on Good Morning America on Monday (January 9) ahead of his book release on Tuesday (January 10). Titled Spare, the tell-all memoir will recount Harry’s time in the royal family and how he dealt with the death of his mother Princess Diana.
Two interviews with Prince Harry aired on Sunday ahead of the book release – one with ITV’s Tom Bradby and on US TV programme 60 Minutes. But Harry also spoke to Good Morning America on Monday.
In the interview, he said of Camilla: “I have a huge amount of compassion for her, you know, being the third person within my parents’ marriage. She had a reputation, or an image, to rehabilitate. Whatever conversations happened, whatever deals or trading was made right at the beginning, she was led to believe that that would be the best way of doing it.”
Asked about what his relationship with Camilla is like now, Harry said: “We haven’t spoken for a long time. I love every member of my family, despite the differences, so when I see her we’re perfectly pleasant with each other.
“She’s my stepmother. I don’t look at her as an evil stepmother. I see someone who married into this institution and has done everything that she can to improve her own reputation and her own image for her own sake.”
Camilla and King Charles wed on April 9 2005. He was previously married to Harry and William’s mother, Princess Diana. The pair had gotten married on 29 July 1981.
Diana and Charles separated in 1992 and officially divorced four years later in 1996. In August 1997, Diana died in a car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris, France. Dodi Fayed, Diana’s partner, and Henri Paul, their chauffeur, were also found dead inside the car.
