Speaking in their interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan Markle claimed that she and Prince Harry had wed “three days before their royal wedding”.

Meghan Markle revealed in 2021 that she and Prince Harry got married on May 16, 2018 – three days prior to their official wedding in Windsor.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in their infamous interview, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that the Archbishop of Canterbury had carried out the secret garden ceremony at Kensington Palace.
Meghan, who was heavily pregnant with Princess Lilibet at the time of the interview, said: “Three days before our wedding, we got married.”
As reported by the Mirror, Harry then added that it was “just the three of us” – the two of them and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
However, since the shock revelation, the Archbishop of Canterbury has since said that there isn’t any truth in the couple’s “lie”.
He later said that their official royal wedding on May 19, 2019 was the real deal – suggesting that Meghan and Harry didn’t get married three days prior.

He told La Repubblica: “I had a number of private and pastoral meetings with the Duke and Duchess before the wedding.
“The legal wedding was on the Saturday. I signed the wedding certificate, which is a legal document, and I would have committed a serious criminal offence if I signed it knowing it was false. So you can make what you like about, but the legal wedding was on the Saturday.”
The Sussexes later released a statement to clarify their claims made in their interview. A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry explained that they had “privately exchanged personal vows a few days before their official/legal wedding on May 19.”
