50 Cent Reminds Why He Turned Down $1.3M and Stood by Eminem

Irv Gottiâs confession comes back around.
A resurfaced 2019 interview clip of Irv Gotti has reignited conversation about one of hip hopâs most storied feuds. In it, the Murder Inc. co-founder admits he intentionally blocked 50 Centâs career before he signed with Eminem and Dr. Dre.
âI rejected him a lotâ, Irv told Marc Lamont Hill on the 2019 Black Coffee episode, claiming he warned others not to work with Fifty because he was âshitting on usâ from the jump:
I was blocking him, just quite honestly, because he was shitting on us. He was shitting on us from the conception of his career. He was coming at us. So anybody who called me, they would call me when he would leave the office and say, âYo, Fifty is an interesting signâ. Iâd say, âYouâre fucking with him â you ainât fucking with me. Donât call me for no records. Donât call me for nothingâ.
I hated on him to where he landed with Em and Dre. Iâm a way smarter person now. I would have organised his deal and controlled it. I could have controlled it âcause I was so hot. I could have controlled that shit, and he would have never got that Dre monster [âIn Da Clubâ]. But I done blocked this nigga to where he fell in the lap of Eminem, the biggest rapper in the universe, with a white fan base that all became his fan base.
Years later, Gotti called it a mistake, but not out of remorse. But because he believed that his decision pushed a determined 50 Cent straight into the arms of hip hop giants.
50 Cent responds with a reminder
When Fifty saw the clip circulating again, he didnât hold back. In a sharp tweet, he shared:
Yayo did not understand why I wouldnât do a deal with universal they offered me 1.3 mill and we was broke.đI said No yall can keep that. Now you see why I love Eminem so much, if he ran your kid over with a car đ Iâd say No he didnât! LOL
In fact, 50 Cent made a critical decision when he turned down $1.3 million from Universal because of Gottiâs ties to the label. Even when broke, Fif says he trusted his gut and Em.
The feud didnât die with Gotti
After Irv Gotti passed away in 2025 at age 54, Fifty made it clear that the old wounds never healed. In a controversial post, he posed by a mock headstone that read âRIPâ with a hookah in hand and Gottiâs photo attached. The message was cold but consistent with their history.
Honest deal
Despite early setbacks and being blocked out of major opportunities, 50 Centâs partnership with Eminem proved fateful. Their collaboration launched âGet Rich or Die Tryinââ, one of the most successful debut albums of all time. For Fif, Em was more than a label boss. He was the person who saw value in Fiftyâs story and gave him the platform to tell it.
Through it all, 50 Cent has remained unwavering in his loyalty to Eminem. Their connection, built on music, respect, and trust, continues to live on in their friendship â such a rare thing in the cut-throat world of show business.
