Netflix’s Bridgerton fans are convinced that the latest season contains a playful reference to the Harry Potter series.
The period romantic drama, based on Julia Quinn’s novels, returned for the first part of its third season on 16 May. This season sparks romance between Colin Bridgerton (played by Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (played by Nicola Coughlan).
As usual, the eligible society folk are busy hitting the dance floors in search of potential spouses. But Aynsley Broom, a devoted fan, spotted the moment “when Bridgerton season 3 makes a Harry Potter reference” during a scene in a ballroom, and this quickly went viral.
In a video amassing over 68,000 likes, the fan pointed out: “Not Benedict Bridgerton, literally pulling a Harry Potter by going why are they always in packs? “.
This enthusiast incorporated a clip from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) queries his friend Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint): “Why do they have to travel in packs? And how are you supposed to get one on their own to ask them? “.
Aynsley then correlated it to a moment featuring Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) anxiety during a ball scene in the initial half of Bridgerton Season 3, launched on 16 May. In this particular instance, he’s seen standing with his brother Colin amidst eligible women when he exclaims: “They’ve taken to hunting in packs.”
Aynsley wasn’t the only fan who noticed the Harry Potter similarities, either. Other TikTok users were quick to voice their views online.
One fan spoke out: “I have always thought there were similarities between Benedict and Harry.” Another exclaimed: “I LITERALLY THOUGHT OF HARRY POTTER TOO,” which was followed by another user’s hilariously apt appreciation: “Caught that! Hilarious.”
Another comment reflected a shared sentiment about the storyline, saying: “The panic in his voice got me the first time I watched it.”
The final episodes of Bridgerton Season 3 will be available to stream on Netflix on June 13.
