We missed a *huge* moment
House of the Dragon fans are all sharing the same complaint about the series, after discovering that one crucial scene was cut from the show.
Viewers have been *thoroughly* invested in the Game of Thrones prequel so far, sharing everything from their intriguing character theories to surprising editing errors. However, it’s now been revealed that one hugely important scene was actually deleted from the final edit – and that’s King Viserys’ wedding to Alicent Hightower.
To recap, at the end of episode two Viserys announced that he was going to marry Alicent, the best friend of his daughter Princess Rhaenyra. Episode three then skipped years into the future with Alicent and Viserys already married, sharing son Aegon while Alicent is pregnant with their second child.
That means Alicent and Viserys’ wedding wasn’t shown on screen, although the scene *was* filmed – with crew members now sharing pictures from the cut moment.

House of the Dragon director Greg Yaitanes took to Instagram to post pics from the wedding scene, revealing that an argument between Alicent and Rhaenyra also wasn’t aired. He wrote, “Two scenes that unfortunately didn’t make it into the final cut, the aftermath fight between @millyalcock [Rhaenyra] and @theemilycarey [Alicent] – both were quite powerful.”
He went on to share a still showing Rhaenyra dressing Alicent for her wedding, writing, “This scene mirrored the scene in episode 1 where @theemilycarey was dressing @millyalcock – now reversed with heartache.”

Hairstylist and make-up artist Tania Tyatyambo Couper also posted a series of behind-the-scenes snaps from the cut wedding, showing more details from Alicent’s hair and dress on the day.
She wrote in one post, “The dress, the hair, the tiara ….. such a shame it didn’t make the edit …. Cutting room floor 😩 sad times … @theemilycarey sad times indeed .. @houseofthedragonhbo why you do me like this [?] 😩🐉😩🐉😩.”
Meanwhile, actress Emily Carey responded to another post from Tania, commenting, “T!!! this look was genius, one of my favs. so sad it never made the edit ❤️❤️❤️.”
Fans of course were less than happy to find out about the deleted scene, with one commenting on Tania’s post, “We were robbed of SO MANY SCENES.” Another added, “So beautiful. I can’t believe they cut this out of the episodes!!” while a third wrote, “I am so mad we didn’t get to see this in the show 😡😡.”
Deleted scenes montage, anyone?
