Brilliant MCU art inspired by Marvel Comics pictures Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in his as-yet-unseen comic-accurate mask ahead of his appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine. Hugh Jackman never suited up in a comic-accurate Wolverine costume during his career as the clawed mutant in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise. This made it even more exciting when he was glimpsed in his yellow-and-blue superhero suit in Deadpool & Wolverine set photos, but one important piece of his faithful Marvel Comics costume still hasn’t been seen.
Wolverine’s new MCU costume has been showcased in Deadpool & Wolverine’s trailers, but the returning hero is still missing his iconic mask from Marvel Comics. While the official mask is yet to be revealed, beautiful fan art shared by Rafael Caban gives some insight into what this complete Wolverine costume might look like.
This art takes inspiration from the covers of issues of Marvel Comics, but imagines the modernized design of the MCU costume, fit with Wolverine’s fantastic and comic-accurate helmet, in place of his superhero suit from the comics themselves.
Why Has Marvel Studios Kept Wolverine’s Mask Hidden For So Long?

It’s somewhat confusing as to why Marvel Studios hasn’t yet shown off Wolverine’s iconic mask in live-action, particularly since the rest of his comic-accurate costume has received a lot of attention. There is a huge amount of excitement to finally see Hugh Jackman suit up in the legendary yellow-and-blue costume from Marvel Comics, and this includes the helmet. It would have generated even more buzz, had Marvel Studios shown Jackman in the mask, but it seems this detail will be kept hidden until Deadpool & Wolverine’s upcoming release.
What makes this even more baffling is the fact that official merch for Deadpool & Wolverine is smattered with images of Wolverine in the mask. This seems to prove that he will sport the iconic helmet in the actual movie. Given the fact that audiences have already seen Hugh Jackman in the mask on the merch, it wouldn’t have been too big of a reveal to see him in the cowl in Deadpool & Wolverine’s trailers. Nevertheless, Marvel Studios has still declined to show this piece of the costume.
Of course, keeping the mask hidden means it will create an even bigger moment in theaters when Wolverine dons it. Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be one of the MCU’s biggest projects ever, and is expected to be packed full of many more surprises than what viewers have seen in the trailers. The official reveal of Wolverine’s mask will only be one of these surprises, and may even be one of the smaller ones, though it will still be amazing to see Hugh Jackman in a complete and comic-accurate Wolverine costume for the first time ever.
