A harrowing docu-series chronicling ordinary people caught in deadly natural disasters is captivating viewers and claiming its place amongst the most-watched programs on HBO’s Max streaming platform this week. Today, In the Eye of the Storm sits as the seventh most viewed show on the platform formerly known as HBO Max and is the the number 1 doc on the streamer.
With Twisters raking in over $200 million (and counting) at the global box office, it comes as no surprise that this series is resonating with Max subscribers. The idea of ordinary people capturing firsthand encounters with massive weather events is compelling (and timely) to say the least. If the setup sounds like your cup of tea, head over to Max (by HBO) and give the show a spin. If you’re not a Max subscriber, the program is also accessible via the Discovery Go platform. There are currently three episodes of the show available to stream.
Official synopsis via FlixPatrol: In the Eye of the Storm is a series that reveals firsthand accounts and compelling eyewitness footage of epic natural disasters. The show features dangerously close calls from inside the action. Onlookers capture mega-storms like 2021’s Hurricane Ida as well as other devastating events like the 2023 Maui wildfires. Viewers get a look from the vantage point of individuals who found themselves in the wrong place at the right time and boldly held up their camera phones to document their experiences.
