House of the Dragon season 2, episode 5 means the season has entered its final half, with plenty of exciting moments from the book yet to happen on the HBO show. Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, particularly the Dance of the Dragons segment, House of the Dragon follows the Targaryen civil war that divided the realm into two factions. Rhaenys’ death in House of the Dragon season 2, episode 4 will be a major turning point for the show, especially because dragons have now been brought into the battlefield.

What happened to Aegon during the battle will also have major repercussions going forward, setting up a very different second half for House of the Dragon season 2 compared to the first few episodes. Although Rhaenyra tried to keep the dragons out of the war, it will now be difficult to stop the escalation following the Battle and Rook’s Rest. With only four episodes left this season, House of the Dragon is about to enter one of the best portions of its source material.
