One-Word Movie Review: ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ (Photo by Brendon Thorne/Getty Images)

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is now available to stream on Max, and it’s the subject of our very first One-Word Movie Review! Can the movie be summed up in just one word? Yes, yes it can.

As Kevin Malone from The Office famously said, “why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?” Well, in my opinion, Kevin used too many words there. It can be simplified even further. I’m going to take his approach and use it for a One-Word Movie Review!

Describing ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ In Only One Word

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga currently has an impressive score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes making it “Certified Fresh.” The movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Burke. It’s a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road and takes place roughly 15-20 years prior to what happened in that movie.

Personally, I often rely on Rotten Tomatoes to see if a movie is going to be worth watching or not. You’ve got some of the best critics in the business reviewing the movie and sharing their opinions. They can typically be trusted with their takes–however, not always. Sometimes, they can be too stuck up and arrogant with movies that don’t meet their standards. Remember, these are often the type of people who call movies “pictures.” You see what I’m saying? Often, these reviews are paragraphs long and use really big words. It can be confusing to some!

The Critics Consensus on Rotten Tomatoes describes Furiosa as, “Retroactively enriching Fury Road with greater emotional heft if not quite matching it in propulsive throttle, Furiosa is another glorious swerve in mastermind George Miller’s breathless race towards cinematic Valhalla.” See? “Propulsive?” Who do they think are reading these reviews? It’s too much!

So, let’s simplify all of that. Most of the time, we don’t even read the critics’ reviews. Instead, we see what score they gave, what its overall score was, and how many critics rated it as Rotten. That usually does the trick. People want things to be simple for them. That’s why Artificial Intelligence is taking off. Who’s going to want to spend hours on a task when A.I. can do it for them? As a society, our attention spans are getting much shorter. That’s why we like the quick content we get on our TikTok timelines and rant feverishly when a movie comes out that’s longer than 2-and-a-half hours. Seriously, a 3-hour movie is never necessary!

Cort Freeman was born and raised in Metro Detroit. He was named Clarkston High School 2009 Class Clown 13 years after graduating. Totally normal thing to happen. That’s thanks to his time spent as an Intern at Comedy Central and Social Media Correspondent for The Colbert Report. Cort has done comedy across the country, both standing up and sitting down. When he’s not trying to make you laugh on-air and online, he’s probably at home enjoying his favorite shows like Seinfeld, South Park, and The Office. He’s also totally uncomfortable writing about himself in the third person. Cort enjoys writing about comedy, food, sports, and entertainment. So, basically anything and everything.
