The Duchess of Sussex always draws intrigue

Meghan Markle moved back to the United States in 2020 after a couple years in the United Kingdom, following her marriage to Prince Harry. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have set up their base in California, raising their two children while trying to build a media empire in the US.
But while Meghan has long faced tension with Harry‘s side of the family, some members of the Markle family have found it difficult to stay in touch with the Duchess in revelations made newly-public by Meghan’s stepmother. It could prove to be another headache for Meghan, who has struggled for acceptance in Hollywood since her marriage to Harry.
Meghan’s stepmother speaks out
In a new interview with the Daily Mirror, Roslyn Markle has chimed in on the “family feud” that has created strain between Meghan, her half-brother Thomas, and her sister Samantha.
“When Meghan graduated from high school, she went to Northwestern which is up in Illinois. And when she finished that, she worked in Argentina. Then she started ‘Suits‘ and she started her acting career,” Roslyn explained. “It was the scenario that everyone got busy, and the distance was always a factor.”
Roslyn’s comments about distance mattering more than “tension” come in response to Harry’s comment in a recent BBC Radio 4 interview that the British Royal Family is “the family (Meghan) never had“. Those remarks have been slammed within the Markle family — Thomas said Meghan “got everything she ever wanted” from her blood relations in North America, while Samantha (via a locked X/Twitter account) ranted that Roslyn “knows nothing about our lives or Meghan.”
Meghan and Samantha have long been estranged, even amidst Meghan’s reported dissatisfaction with the responsibilities that have accumulated for her since she married Harry. Meghan supposedly misses her “carefree life” and does not like the “scrutiny and attention” she continues to attract.
