House of the Dragon season 2, episode 7 will be this season’s penultimate episode, setting the stage for what could be an epic finale. Game of Thrones’ penultimate episodes, also known as “Episodes 9,” were usually full of twists or incredible battles. From “The Rains of Castamere” to the “Battle of the Bastards,” HBO’s adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire taught viewers to expect a lot from penultimate episodes. House of the Dragon has honored this tradition so far, namely with “The Green Council” in season 1.

With House of the Dragon season 2 having two episodes than the first season, there are only two episodes left for it to wrap things up and plant all the seeds that will be important in the next season. House of the Dragon season 2, episode 6’s ending saw Rhaenyra learning that Seasmoke had a new rider, which should have major repercussions for her plan of enlisting “dragonseeds” to her army. Between Ser Criston leading the Greens’ forces to the Riverlands and Aemond inviting Otto Hightower back to the council, both sides are gearing up for war.
