‘American Idol’ Fans Just Learned This Shocking Detail About Mor Ilderton’s TV Past

With American Idol season 24 already underway, it’s hard not to be enamored with the incredible talent being showcased every week!

The latest installment of the ABC competition series is proving how amazing the talent pool is, as judges Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, and Lionel Richie look for the best singers in the country. Well, on the February 16 episode, the trio met Mor Ilderton, a young man looking to make it big on the music stage.

Singing his original song, “Strong,” Mor and his approach to penning his own tunes wowed the judges. They all gave him a standing ovation after hearing the track inspired by the heartbreaking death of his mom.

“I feel like you went somewhere else when you were singing,” Carrie told him in a clip posted on YouTube. “It’s like we weren’t here, in a good way.”

Naturally, Mor’s gut-wrenching audition led to the judges moving him on to the Hollywood round of American Idol season 24. And even though many may have just met the singer through this show, this isn’t the first time Mor has vied for a chance at stardom on TV.

Back in late 2024, Mor tried his hand at making it big in music by auditioning for The Voice season 26. He managed to get all four coaches at the time (Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, and Snoop Dogg) to turn their chairs after hearing his haunting rendition of Dylan Gossett’s “Coal” in the Blind Auditions, and he eventually chose Gwen as his mentor.

While it seemed like it was a dream come true, Mor surprised viewers by revealing he quit the show ahead of the Knockout Rounds. And while he never explicitly stated what led to this choice, he did share that he was still releasing music for listeners to enjoy.

“Yo I’m Mor!!” he wrote over a video posted on Instagram at the time. “You may know me from this season of NBC’s The Voice. If not I’m a folk artist out of WV and I’m releasing a single Nov 22nd called ‘Stranger’ and it’s the song that’s playing now! Come along on this journey with me.”

Clearly, The Voice wasn’t the end of Mor’s journey on TV. We’ll definitely be tuning in to see what’s next for him!
