Little House on the Prairie is an upcoming Netflix Original period drama adaptation of Laura Ingalls Wilder’s beloved autobiographical novels, led by showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Boys). The first season will be released on Netflix on July 9, 2026, and ahead of its release, Netflix has already announced that the series has been renewed for a second season.
Little House on the Prairie follows the Ingalls family’s move from their Wisconsin farm to a log house in Montgomery County, Kansas, in 1869. Their new home was built on Native American territory, but Laura’s father had heard that the government planned to open the territory to white settlers and thus took the risk to settle his family. The family faces risks and perils during their two-year stay in Kansas, including falling ill, starting a new farm, and land disputes with Native Americans and the U.S. Government.
