Will Mickey Haller be taking on another case?
“I’ve been hearing from people who’ve seen the whole thing that it’s the best season yet. I believe it,” he added. “Because every time I was reading the scripts, there was one that brought me to tears.
“It’s more emotional. As an actor, it’s always better for me to play that darker side. And this really feels heavier and darker. With my character, Mickey Haller, you can see that he’s carrying the world — the heaviness — on his shoulders, and his life is on the line.”
Garcia-Rulfo echoed that sentiment in an interview with TV Insider, adding that this season was his “favourite… because of all the heaviness. I like to play the drama”.
“It’s very emotional — not just with what’s happening to him, but with what happens to the other characters as well,” he continued.
“But yeah, definitely the most enjoyable for me. It feels heavier, at least making it. And I think everything he’s been doing as a lawyer — defending all these people and fighting wrongful accusations — happens to him this time. And of course, it’s very personal.”
The actor also revealed what he’d like to see from Mickey moving forward: “The core and essence of the character is always that hero’s journey — he’s defeated at the beginning, and then, little by little, through all the struggles and obstacles, he starts climbing back. And then again, he falls. I think that’s why people are so drawn to it.
“I love that about these stories and this series. So more of that, I guess. Maybe to see him step back and relax a little.”
Sounds good to us — although we’re not sure it’ll be possible given how season 4 wrapped up.

Will there be The Lincoln Lawyer season 5?

There will! A fifth season of The Lincoln Lawyer was officially confirmed in January 2026 — before season 4 had even premiered on Netflix.
Announcing the renewal, co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said they were already “hard at work on the next one”, adding that the series had been steadily building towards this pivotal point in Mickey’s story.
By the end of season 4, Mickey has been exonerated – but peace is short-lived.
After reclaiming his powder blue Lincoln Continental and enjoying a rare moment of calm at home with daughter Hayley and ex-wife Maggie. Maggie admits she misses Los Angeles – and Mickey – even as she insists her life is still rooted in San Diego…
And then comes the shock ending.
While out shopping, Mickey is saved from an assassination attempt by a mysterious woman, played by Cobie Smulders – who then calmly reveals she’s his sister.
Dun, dun, duuun…
Needless to say, that’s a storyline that will have to be explored in the next batch of episodes.
When will The Lincoln Lawyer season 5 be released?

A release date for season 5 has not yet been announced.
However, looking at previous release patterns, fans may be in for another wait. The gap between seasons 3 and 4 was the longest so far at just over a year, and if that trend continues, a release sometime in summer 2027 seems plausible.

Cobie Smulders is also expected to play a major role following her dramatic introduction in the season 4 finale.
“We’re super excited to have Cobie come and work with us,” Humphrey told Variety. “The last shot of the season is Mickey looking like somebody’s completely blown his mind. And so now the next question is, what is this? Is it true? What does it mean for Mickey going forward?”
Sadly, we’ve likely seen the last of Elliott Gould’s character, Legal, who passed away in the latest season.
What could happen in The Lincoln Lawyer season 5?
Netflix previously announced that the fifth season, consisting of 10 episodes, would be inspired by Resurrection Walk, the seventh novel in Michael Connelly’s Lincoln Lawyer series.
That book sees Mickey inundated with pleas from inmates claiming wrongful convictions, before one case stands out – a woman imprisoned for murdering her husband, a sheriff’s deputy, in a case that may not be as open-and-shut as it seems. As ever, the truth proves dangerous, particularly when it threatens powerful institutions.
However, in an interview with Variety, Humphrey implied that the next season might not be a direct adaptation. “We may not use a novel directly, or it may be pieces of a novel,” he teased. “It may be the season that we invent the most.”
