The pair have been together since mid-2023. According to Travis’s dad, the engagement itself took place around two weeks ago in the Chiefs player’s garden. In true Swift fashion, there are a number of under-the-surface things to be gleaned from the Instagram announcement itself.

For one, the caption is “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨.” Perhaps stating the obvious, but this is at least partially a reference to Taylor’s song “So High School,” where she sings, “Are you gonna marry, kiss, or kill me? / It’s just a game, but really / I’m bettin’ on all three” — and, of course, “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.”

She even included the song in her Instagram story reshare of the post.

But let’s consider that emoji for a second. It’s dynamite, or TNT: Travis and Taylor (or vice versa). “TNT” is certainly a theme. Last year, Taylor wore a “TNT” bracelet to a Chiefs game. As it turned out, Travis had commissioned matching friendship-style bracelets in 14k gold from Wove Made Jewelers.

If you look veeeery closely at the ring, it looks like there’s a “T” by the diamond, which is possibly mirrored on the other side as well.

Now for some numerology! Taylor has often said that her favorite number is 13, adding on the New Heights podcast (alongside Travis), “I love numerology. I love math stuff. I love dates. That stuff I find really fun.”

Well, the New Heights podcast was released on Aug. 13, while the engagement was revealed on the 26th, which is 13 days after the fact. It was also posted at 1 p.m., aka the 13th hour.
