āVirgin Riverā Renewed for Season 8 at Netflix Ahead of Season 7 Debut
Before Season 7 of āVirgin Riverā even has a premiere date, the series has been renewed for its eighth season atĀ Netflix.
An early renewal is par for the course for āVirgin River,ā which was renewed for Season 7 ahead of the October 2024 release of the sixth season. The series has consistently brought in strong viewership for Netflix since its debut in 2019. Season 6 spent four weeks on the Netflix Top 10, peaking with 9.2 million views in its second week.
āVirgin Riverā is based on Robyn Carrās book series of the same name and stars Alexandra Breckenridge as Mel Monroe. Hoping to leave her past life behind, Mel moves to Virgin River, a remote town in Northern California. There, having taken a job as a midwife and nurse practitioner, she meets and falls in love with former Marine and local bartender Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson). Season 6 sees Mel and Jack get married, while also diving into secrets from Melās fatherās past in Virgin River in the 1970s. The season also features Hendersonās directorial debut, āGoing Overboard,ā the eighth episode.
Along with Breckenridge and Henderson, the cast includes Colin Lawrence, Jenny Cooper, Lauren Hammersley, Annette OāToole, Tim Matheson, Benjamin Hollingsworth, Grayson Gurnsey, Sarah Dugdale, Zibby Allen and Marco Grazzini.
āVirgin Riverā was developed for television by Sue Tenney, who also serves as co-showrunner with Patrick Sean Smith. Tenney and Smith are exeutive producers alongside Carr, Amy Palmer Robertson, Roma Roth, Christopher E. Perry, Erin Cardillo and Richard Keith.
