King Charles has had enough of his brother after Prince Andrew’s ties to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein came to light. The Duke of York has also allegedly refused to vacate the Royal Lodge, further frustrating the King. Amid the ongoing drama, Charles has made his feelings clear about Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, who still lives with him at the Royal Lodge, despite their divorce. Royal expert Ephraim Hardcastle recently shared that the monarch continues to support and include Ferguson in royal events to ‘rehabilitate’ her image.

Ferguson marked her first appearance in years at the Wimbledon matches on June 30 alongside her daughter, Princess Beatrice. As reported by OK! magazine, commenting on the same, Hardcastle opined that her appearance at the Royal Ascot suggested the King had no hard feelings. He penned, “Sarah Ferguson’s grin from Wimbledon’s Royal Box…confirms her continued rehabilitation under King Charles. It follows Fergie’s two appearances alongside the King at Royal Ascot.” The expert claimed, “She was also offered a seat in the carriage procession down the course, another privilege denied her since her 1996 divorce. However, she declined, apparently to spare the feelings of her ex-husband.”

The Duchess of York has not taken part in the Ascot carriage procession since her divorce from Andrew in 1996. While the King reportedly invited her this year, the same cannot be said for Andrew, who has been debarred from the event after news broke of his friendship with Epstein. A source dished, “Andrew, who loved the pomp of the procession, was allowed at the pre-racing lunch but banned from attending the racing.” The Duke of York stepped back from public duties in 2019 and was stripped of his royal titles by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2022. Despite her ex-husband’s controversial past, Ferguson has stood by his side.

Hardcastle also revealed that the King has strongly supported Ferguson following her multiple cancer diagnoses over the years. In June 2023, she was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer, which was detected during a routine mammogram. In January 2024, she was diagnosed with a form of skin cancer. GB News reports that her ‘public rehabilitation’ has been bolstered by her openness to speak about her health battles. In a recent conversation with The Times, she shared, “It was hard. I’m generally a positive person, but cancer is like a bomb going off in your life. I don’t mind admitting that my mind went to some dark places, reflecting on my own mortality.”

Charles has warmly included the Duchess of York in several other royal events in recent years. In 2023, he invited her to join the royal family’s traditional Christmas walk to church, her first time participating since the 1990s. Similarly, she made a rare public appearance alongside Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and Prince Edward at the Easter Service at St. George’s Chapel in April 2025. Her return to Wimbledon this year marked her first appearance at the matches in over three decades, having last attended in 1988 with the late Princess Diana.
