With both films vying for box office success, the rivalry has taken a playful turn. Reynolds and Jackman are now championing their own co-star, Peggy the Dogpool, in a bid to claim the title of Hollywood’s top dog of the summer, pitting her against Powell’s Brisket.
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman Spark Playful Feud with Glen Powell
Hollywood star Glen Powell recently captured fans’ hearts with his adorable pet dog, Brisket, amid the release of his new film Twisters. While the actor anticipated Brisket to be crowned “Hollywood’s King of the Animal Kingdom,” it seems that he’s got some stiff competition.

And it comes in the form of Peggy the Dogpool from Deadpool & Wolverine. In a recent conversation with etalk, the stars of the film Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman passionately defended their canine co-star in the debate over who should be the Hollywood dog of the summer.
Commenting on a popular picture of the Top Gun star with his pet, Reynolds stated, “I mean, there is also a lot of nudity happening with the dog.” However, when it came to Peggy, they did not back down in hyping their canine co-star.
Peggy is like the most special little dog on this planet. She steals the show. You know, Brisket sounds really sweet, I feel like if you meet Peggy, you won’t f**king forget that.

Jackman echoed Reynolds’ enthusiasm, saying, “I know Brisket has clearly been through a lot of like tornados and twisters, but don’t f*ck with Dogpool.” Among many other things, Reynolds also argued that Peggy’s toughness surpasses that of Brisket.
The amusing battle of the dogs adds an entertaining twist to the promotional efforts, with fans expecting more antics from Powell and Brisket for the Hollywood dog showdown.
How Deadpool & Wolverine Found Peggy the Dogpool
Glen Powell has shared that he got his pet dog Brisket while filming Twisters in Los Angeles. “I got him in L.A.,” he said during an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

“He’s a Hollywood Dog. He shoots on location,” he further stated. However, as for Deadpool’s tiny canine counterpart, Peggy had never set a paw on a movie set before Deadpool & Wolverine.
It was Ryan Reynolds who advocated for her casting in the movie. “We did a global search, and Peggy beat out lots of contestants because of her sheer ugliness,” director Shawn Levy said, as per Marvel.

Although she did not have prior experience, Peggy was quick to adapt to the role of Dogpool with her training, as Levy explained,
So once we found Peggy, she went into training for this movie. And she trained! Like, cut to the Rocky training montage. That’s how I imagine Peggy learning to run, learning how to hit a mark, learning how to look at something.
And now, the canine star has embraced Hollywood life, strutting the red carpet at the Deadpool & Wolverine premieres in her Dogpool costume and Doggles.
Deadpool & Wolverine and Twisters are playing in theatres.
